Mustang trek

Mustang – commonly referred to as ‘Upper Mustang’ – is a arid river kaligandagi valley that runs north-south off the upper corner of the Annapurna Circuit. Both culturally and geographically, it’s more similar to Tibet than Nepal and used to form its own kingdom, with its capital in Lo Manthang (the turnaround point of your trek). Lying in the rain shadow of the Himalaya, and officially one of Nepal’s restricted regions, this trek is known for its desert beauty and harsh, cliff-faced landscapes.

Accomodation

Accommodations We will be staying at Ti-se guest house in Kathmandu, Mountain house in Pokhara and teahouses during the trek. All accommodations are on twin-shared basis. Although single rooms are readily available in Kathmandu and the trekking regions at lower elevation, it might be difficult to find them at higher elevations.

Meal

Meals During Trek, we can enjoy authentic Nepalese food as well the more common international cuisine (Tibetan, Continental, Italian, Indian, etc.). Breakfast and dinner will be served from the tea-houses or from a lodge menu where we spend the night whereas lunch will be served on the way to the next destination. All meals will be provided during trekking while only breakfast will be available while in Kathmandu and Pokhara.

Best Season

Upper Mustang lies in the rain shadow of the Himalaya, making it a great monsoon trek and open year-round for trekking. The main consideration is the winter, when most residents leave the capital to avoid the cold and snow. Generally, the best time to visit Upper Mustang is from March to early November.
