FOCUS ON THE NEXT GENERATION
We believe that education is the solution for elevating poverty If people are educated then they can make their own informed decisions to better their own lives. The Shree Mesalme primary school was completely destroyed by the earthquake in 2014. The new school building was set up by the Rosie May foundation from the UK and Trekker Nepal to train and empower young children’s to be proud of their way of life and proud to welcome you as their guest. We believe that education is the solution to many problems that communities face in the long term.
We had a clear view of our social responsibility to the villages from the very start. Education for young children was the first community project set up by Rosie May foundation since the devastating earthquake. Our good relationship with the communities began by creating a discussion between with local people and children’s families about how best we can help each other.
Government Schools are set up only in big villages or towns with the highest concentration of people. Children from smaller villages have to travel by foot to attend school. This means that some families cannot send young children to daycare or pre-school aged 4-7 as they are too young to travel without their parents who work most of the day. These children mostly start to attend classes at the age of 8 or older as they can fend for themselves or go with their older siblings. This gives them less confidence as they are the oldest in class and behind with reading and writing – these children are less likely to finish primary education.
Shree Mesalme primary school rebuild centers in remote villages where families close by can easily send their youngsters. These learning centers are open for any children of any age, giving them the chance to learn and catch up with the curriculum until they are ready to move to the high schools.

Accommodations We will be staying at Ti-se guest house in Kathmandu and tea houses home stay service during the trek. All accommodations are on a twin-shared basis. Although single rooms are readily available in Kathmandu and the trekking regions at the lower elevation, it might be difficult to find them at higher elevations.
Meals during the Trek, we can enjoy authentic Nepalese local food as well the more common international cuisine (Tibetan, Continental, Italian, Indian, etc.). Breakfast and dinner will be served from the tea-houses or from a lodge menu where we spent the night whereas lunch will be served on the way to the next destination. All meals will be provided during trekking while only breakfast will be available while in Kathmandu.
The best time to trek is Autumn (Sept. to Dec.) and Spring (March to May). The treks during Winter and Summer (monsoon) aren’t impossible but just quite challenging. For the best experience, the early and late Spring and Autumn would be preferable due to less tourist traffic.
During the early Spring, the vegetations look fresh with early flowers starting to bloom in several kinds of plants. The villages are full of activity in preparation of family farms for planting the crops. The days are generally sunny due to which they offer good scenery.
The early Autumn is fresh green after a period of warm rainy days from summer monsoon. The month long Nepali festivals of Dashain and Tihar can also coincide and the harvest time also starts in many of the villages.
The early Winter (late Autumn) is also a very good time if one prefers lower elevations in the Himalayas.
